27 December 2013 My client is involved in super matket business. he makes payments for freight inward. whethet he is liable for service tax? if yes, what is the exemption limit and how to calculate tax liability? please reply its urgent..

02 January 2014 1. If the recipient is a company, then he is liable to pay service tax under reverse charge.

2. Abatement of 75% is available in case of GTA.

Accordingly service tax is to be paid on 25% of the bill amount or 3.09% of the total bill amount.
