Discussion is about ICAI membership application where the newly qualified CA has shifted residence but lacks address proof in own name. Options suggested include using rent agreement, bank documents, or applying with old address and updating later. Query further asks if father's utility bills can be used for address update.

I am a newly qualified Chartered Accountant. While applying for membership, I am required to upload address proof.
I have recently shifted to a new residence, but all my government-issued IDs reflect my previous address. At present, I do not have any document that shows my current address. Updating my address in government IDs will take some time; however, I would like to apply for membership at the earliest.

To apply for your ICAI membership immediately despite having outdated IDs, your best bets are using a registered rent agreement, a utility/broadband bill, or updating your bank records first to generate a statement for the new address. Alternatively, you can apply using your old address as per your IDs and update it on the SSP portal later once your government records are synchronized.

This is not a rented property, and all the utility bills are in my father’s name. I would like to update my address so that the membership kit can be delivered to my new residence. Since the utility bills are under my father’s name, may I update the new address using his name as proof?
