TDS ON TRANSPORTER U/S 94C

WE HAVE ONE FIXED LOCAL TRUCK OWNER FOR DELIVERING OUR GOODS. HE IS NOT TRANSPORTER. HE ONLY HAVE 2 TRUCK. WE PAID HIM AROUND 295000/- CHARGES IN PREVIOUS FINANCIAL YEAR. SO DO WE NEED TO DEDUCT TDS OR BECAUSE HE HAVE ONLY 2 TRUCK ..ITS EXEMPT.. PLEASE SUGGEST

Since the transporter owns only 2 trucks, TDS is not required under Section 194C(6), provided he furnishes his PAN and confirms that he owns not more than 10 goods carriages during the year. Keep PAN and declaration on record for compliance purposes.
