Dear sir/madam
The amendments made in the income tax act are from with effect from some date. Now say an amendment is w.e.f 01.04.12. Does it mean that it is in effect from assessment year starting from 01.04.12 or previous year starting from 01.04.12?
Thank you for your time

i sold land and earned long term capital gain. i invested whole amount of sale proceeds of land in residential house booked with builder. as per rules the possession of residential property in which long term capital gain has been invested should be taken within 3 yrs of sale of property . what will be consequences if builder is unable to give possession of residential house within 3 yrs although whole amount of sale proceeds was paid to builder within 6 months of sale.
Dear Sir,
There is a partnership firm, commenced on 01-02-2013, and firm has 3 partners. Firm will carry on the business of bricks manufacturing. One partner has provided his agriculture land for the formation of kiln and also invested around 12 lacs.
Now please advise on following points-
1.Whether firm should pay rent to that partner or give him interest @12% on the market value of land, by considering it his capital investment.
2. Suppose market value of that land is 15 lacs, then what should be opening balance of capital a/c of that partner-
A. 12 lacs + 15 lacs = 27 lacs.
B. Only 12 lacs that is invested in cash.
Please clarify.
Hi friends
I want to discuss upon the concept of accounting entries and presentation aspect in case of foreign currency revaluation and translation.
Can you confirm or object (with Detailed explanation) if my below statements are correct.
* FC Revaluation is done always prior to FC translation.
* In case of FC Revaluation, one side of entry goes to Revaluation asset/liability account while the other one goes to FC Revaluation gain/loss account I.e. P/L account.
* In case of FC translation, both side of entry goes to Translation asset/liability/equity accounts of Consolidated B/S. This is the main part of my query on which I want views.
Please share your knowledge and experience keeping not only Indian but IFRS and US accounting in consideration.
Kind regards
Arjun
