Wedding

18 January 2017 We would like to gift Rs 10,000 as a gift for our staff member who is getting married and make that, or some fixed amount, part of the company policy. Is this fully under the scope of TDS i.e. taxable? I see at times limits of Rs 5000.

18 January 2017 Dear Alfred, Gifting to a person during his/her marriage is not taxable in the hands of the person receiving the gift. however, the question of whether such expense is an allowable business expenditure to company is a doubtful question. how will it help in the furtherance of the business!

18 January 2017 ok I can live with that :)
Our staff are the one and only source of business expense so their well being and productivity is directly related to the success of our (IT) company.

18 January 2017 welcome. please give a thumbs up if you like the response. it's right besides my name.
