Service tax on maintenance charges

Is service tax applicable on Maintenance charges per month Rs 3000 collected by builder after giving possession of flat to flat owner. Maintenance of building is under Builder hand, not transferred to society.

Yes service tax applicable. It is exempted up to 5000 for amount paid to associations.
