Share accounting-->fifo - capital gain - period as per fifo?

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
Under FIFO, each sale is matched with the earliest available purchase lot. If sold shares come from multiple purchase dates, split the sale into separate lots and calculate the holding period and capital gains individually for each lot.

02 July 2026 i bought reliance in 3 lots, how to calculate long or short term as fifo may give more than 1 date right?

example - 3 bought reliance ,
then 2 sold,
then 6 bought reliance,
then 5 sold.

for this 5 sold, 2 fifo dates will come. 1st lot date and 2nd lot date.
then how to calculate period of holding?

my view--> take any date in fifo to calculate period of holding (long or short term).

02 July 2026 1. Two shares sold from the first lost of 3 shares purchased.
2. Five shares sold.... one from first lot & remaining four from the second lot of 6 shares purchased.

02 July 2026 sir, so two purchase dates for 5 shares sold right?

02 July 2026 Correct. Divide them in two lots.
