13 November 2013 Yes it is possible to claim depreciation whenever the property is let out with plant,machinery or furniture, provided the income arising from it would be computed under the head "income from other sources" and not "income from house property".To check the correct head of income the main test is that letting out of machinery or plant or furniture should be inseperable from letting out of building.(Sultan bros(p)ltd v CIT)
