If you've received a Show Cause Notice (SCN) from the Profession Tax Officer (PTO) regarding non-filing or non-payment of PTRC returns, and you believe you've complied, there are several ways to respond. You can attempt to reply directly through the MahaGST PT Login Portal by looking for an 'Add Reply' option against the notice. Additionally, it's crucial to reply to the email sender and draft a formal letter to the PTO, attaching all proof of timely payment and filing, such as challans and acknowledgments. Submitting a service request on the MahaGST Helpdesk page with your evidence is also recommended for visibility.

Hi All, Today, I received a SCN from PTO , Mumbai on my registered email for non filing of ptrc returns and non payment of tax since fy 2023- 24.
But I have already paid correct tax and filed ptrc returns timely. It says if returns filed and taxes paid submit evidences.
So how do I reply to this scn ? Is there any online option on mahagst / pt web portal now ? Or do I reply back on email ? Or do I have to personally visit pt office at Mazagon?

Log into your existing account via the MahaGST PT Login Portal. • Look for a "Notices and Orders" or "Service Requests / Assessment" tab under your PTRC profile. • If the system provides an active online "Add Reply" or "Submit Objections" link directly against that specific Show Cause Notice reference number, draft a text response and upload your evidence there.

Because PTRC system alerts are automated, you must also reply to the sender's email address listed on the SCN. • Draft a formal response letter addressed to the Profession Tax Officer (PTO), Mumbai. Mention your PTRC TIN number, the SCN Reference Number, and the Date. • State explicitly that you are a compliant taxpayer, and the correct taxes for FY 2023–24 have been paid and returns filed on time. • Attach your proof: Compile all MTR-6 payment challans, bank debit receipts, and PTRC return filing acknowledgments for the disputed periods into a single, clearly named PDF file.

To guarantee visibility within the system, go to the official MahaGST Helpdesk Service Request page. • Choose Registered Dealer and select your Act as PTRC. • Select Return / Payment as your category, describe that you received a wrongful notice despite timely filing, and attach your response letter along with your payment evidence.

Sir, thanks for such detailed reply. I logged into my account on Mahagst PT portal . But there is no "notices and orders" or service request/ assessment " active under my ptrc. I replied to email sent to me but it was not delivered . Should I visit the pt office personally with physical copies of ptrc returns and challans and my reply letter. ? Or simply creating ticket is sufficient?
Also are the physical letters submitted at the inward counter at pt office like ASK in income tax or will I have to meet the pto and explain the matter?

1. Check if the mail is from genuine MAHA GST dept. 2. If so, raise ticket and file complaint. 3. If not properly resolved, you may finally visit office personally.
