VAT Audit of Company having place of business in Gujarat

08 May 2009 Is it compulsory for the Company which is assessing its VAT liability on its own, to get books of the account audited under Gujarat Value Added Tax?
If It is liable but does not carry out audit then what are the consequences of the same?
What is the time limit of filing of the audit report?

01 June 2009 Last date of filing the audit report is within 6 month from end of the year, i.e. 30th Sep.
but it may extanded by department, as it was 31st may 2008 for 2006-07.
10000/- is penalty amount on delayed submission.
