Service tax exemption

04 August 2011 Dear ALL,

X ltd is a new company providing taxable service. It has entered into a contract of rendering of service for Rs. 15 lakhs.

My query is

if i register before providing the service for service tax, will i get an exemption of Rs. 10 lakhs for service tax purpose?

04 August 2011 since the expected sale value exceed the exemption limit,i suggest to register under service tax.

Incase your annual billing is not exceeding the Rs.10 lakh then you can avail exemption. even after registered under service tax also you can claim basic exemption
