Penalty under service tax if st not paid online

I want to know if somebody is required to pay service tax online under service tx act but he pay through challan .then what could be the penalty/consequences.

07 August 2014 I do not think there is a penalty. Mandatory e-payment notification may be seen from link below--

07 August 2014 Non-Payment of tax through elctronic made attracts penalty which may be extend upto Rs.10,000 under section 77(1)(d) w.e.f 08.04.11 (earlier it was Rs.5,000).
