16 February 2011 i want to know whether itc on purchase of goods used as consumables for providing services can be claimed.

16 February 2011 Yes it can be availed to pay the service tax on taxable services provided that no abatement/ deduction for goods ( inputs) claimed.
Under VAT only that which is related to trade can be claimed.
