How to get forget pass word for income tax

12 March 2012 Please give solution to this:
Income Tax pass word had forgotten. To get forget password I do not know secret question and I do not have Income Tax filed return because I have not filed previously returns. I want file the return at first time.

12 March 2012 Write an e-mail to validate@incometaxindia.gov.in with the following information:

Name
PAN
Father's Name
Date of birth/incorporation

You can also call CPC at toll free number 1800 425 2229.

As per your advice I have send the mail to CPC but there is no reply and Toll Free Number also always busy.

Can I file my returns manually (Paper Returns) for the Assessment Year 2010-11 and 2011-12.

Is there any other solution. Please give reply

14 March 2012 The reply to the mail will take some time.

The toll free number is not busy all the time. Whenever I have called, I have been able to get through.

Try calling at 7 p.m. The lines wont be that busy.

Wait for a few days, if you do not get any response, then file manual returns.

Although return for AY 10-11 can be filed upto 31.3.2012, penalty of Rs. 5,000/- may be levied.

Also, make sure that you file the return for AY 11-12 ON or BEFORE 31.3.2012 to avoid penalty.
