Hi! Friends
Please clarify the following and do needful.
Advance thanks for your co-operation.
We've paid freight for our freight consignments, which has already included
the service tax. We've pacca payment receipts from them, who are registered under GTA/ST.
Recently, when audit team of ST has pointed that they require that this freight operator has paid this service tax to concern department or not? How we know that?
And whether they're not paid to concern ST to the department, how we'll liabile this? to ST.

It appears that you are falling under the seven catagory, who are liable to pay tax on GTA as service receiver.
A declaration from the Service Provider(GTA) that they have discharged the service tax liability on amount collected from you will suffice.

The dept can recover the tax not paid from assesses as long as they are traceable and you have taken due care.
