Filing of itr in case of death

This query is : Resolved

22 June 2014 Dear sir, My uncle has expired in april. He had taxable income during 2013-14 about 5 lacs. Is there any need to file ITR?? If yes then how?

24 June 2014 Yes, Return should be filed by the legal heir of the deceased assessee.
For this you need to registered yourself as Legal Heir in "My Account" head by logging in your own Account. You need to upload following documents in zip file:
1. Copy of Death Certificate
2. Pan Card of Deceased
3. Self Attested copy of PAN Card of the Legal Heir
4. Legal Heir Certificate

While filing return , wherein name of the assesse has to be specified , mention Late Mr./ Ms. as the case may be and put the name and PAN of Legal Heir in Verification details.
