Deduction u/s 80 C

This query is : Resolved

03 February 2008 Can a person claim 80 C deduction for the fees paid to ICAI to register himself or his son?

As the act says fees paid to any university, college, school or any other educational institutions is eligible for deduction.

In addition, ICAI is Institution of Chartered Accountant of India and it is very well authorized/approved.

03 February 2008 There is confusion in understanding the act on the aforesaid section, As the act is silent on the section and any computer fees paid will also eligible for the same.

03 February 2008 Please note the words tuition fees.

04 February 2008 TUITION FEES!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOT FEES
So Not eligible

04 February 2008 Hi,
ICAI is not a college nor university nor educational institution.Hence 80-C will not be applicable to ICAI fee paid to son.
At any case fees paid to the assessee himself cannot be subject to 80-C deduction

05 February 2008 And tell me one more thing that, if CA is an institution and fees is paid for the full time education, as fees can not be refunded nor withdraw till the completion of the term or session.
Below Conditions are fullfilled:

1- Fess Paid for the childrens
2- For Education
3- To Approved Institution
4- For Full Time Education
5- Fees of Rs 8000 Paid to the institute for registring in PCC, include Rs. 4000 tution fee

17 February 2008 Dear Friend,Section 80-C allows deduction regarding tution fees & not the registration fees.

05 March 2008 tution fees paid for the regular (whole time) courses only

17 March 2008 It is mentioned in the CA prospectus, RS 4000 as tution fees out of Rs 8000 as Registration Fees. And CA is education Institute according to section 80-C, AS it is mentioned any college, school, universty, or any other education institute providing full time education.
