LTCG on Listed shares thro Exchange is exempt..
but LTCG on Listed Shares thro Off Market Transaction is taxable..
now ma question is
if Mr.x is having LTCG on sale of Land
can same be setoff with LTCL on listed securites thro Off Market Transaction.witout STT.
but LTCG on Listed Shares thro Off Market Transaction is taxable..

theoretically, the set-off should be available.
However, it is possible that AO may consider selling of shares in off-market transaction as a tax evasion device!

It should be possible esp. if the off market sale is being made at an arms length price.
