TDS on interest

If an assessee is running 2 proprietorships one having turnover of more than Rs. 40,00,000.00 and other less than 40,00,000.00 and pays interest of Rs. 10,000.00 from the second proprietorship(lower turnover one) then will he be liable to deduct TDS on the same.

Member identity at AGM

Please clarify anyone-
Reg-AGM Proceedings
One shareholder applied & gets the shareholders list from the listed company, with the payment of appropriate fees, as per the companies act,1956.
Subsequently, he is giving a notice to the company u/s 257 of the companies act, seeking to appoint him as independent director of the company in the ensuing AGM.
As per the provisions of the companies act, the board is taking this subject to the shareholders meeting (AGM) & to set the motion in AGM by conducting the voting by show of hands.

In the meantime, the cited shareholder brings with him 20 or 30 persons to the AGM & to request them to act as shareholders, by giving them sufficient shareholder details on hand ( ie.) Name, address, folio no, no. of shares, etc. (since the list is already obtained from the company), to participate in the voting.

1) To eliminate these dummy shareholders, whether we can asks the ID Proof (voter ID /Ration card /Passport copy )at the venue of the AGM to identify the genuiness of the member? OR
2) Is there any alternative steps are available? Please advice.

Thanks in advance
Varathan

NewUser

Hi,

I will be day-trading futures contracts in a foreign market, using an individual account with a brokerage based abroad.

My understanding from reading multiple posts in this great site are:
1. Since I will be trading futures and options, my income will be classified "Income from Business".

2. Since the exchange will not be recognized by SEBI and/or there will be no PAN account number on the transaction note, etc.., the income will be further classified as "Speculative"

Given I will be trading using an "Individual" account, and will be trading from home AND my income will be classified as "Business" - Can I file the my Income tax returns as an "Individual" or do I need to be a "Sole Proprietor"?

In either case, will I need to pay any other taxes in addition to the Income tax?

Thanks,
Gaurav

P.S. I reside in the state of TamilNadu.
