24 October 2010 One society registered in 2008 for the purpose of imparting education to poor people want to get registration under Section 12A of Income Tax Act. School Building was ready in March 2009 and education activities started in April 2009. Return u/s 139(1) not filed. PAN applied but not alloted. What should be the best course of action. Will commissioner approve registration without audited accounts.How the donation received would be treated in absence of registration u/s 12A.

25 October 2010 Why PAN was allotted is questionable?. Please confirm first. First you take the PAN, then regularly file the return, if everything is as per norms of IT , you will get 12A registration also.

25 October 2010 PLease check for allotment of PAN first as advised by Shailesh and then file your retunrs regularly. Apply for 12A registration after regularising the non compliances.
