11 July 2011 Tution given by college students or teacher or house wife at fixed pay to junior students or school student should be chargeable as salary/business& profession or Income from other sources?Please clarify.A college student receiving 6000/- per month in cash from two students each by coaching. How chargeable ?

11 July 2011 For taxing any amount under salary there should be relationship of employer and employee between payer and payee, so there is no question of changeability under salary, according to me this can be taxed under Income From Other Source.

11 July 2011 The tuition fee is a business and is to be taxed as Business Income.

For salary income the other expert has given the correct answer

14 July 2011 If you are doing tuition as a profession, the same can be taxed as profit or loss from business or profession otherwise the same can be taxed as income from other sources.
