09 April 2014 I am doing air cargo business and I am the proprietor. Is it necessary to register and apply for Tin & Tan. If it so, kindly advice how to apply. what is the use of TIN and TAN in my business

09 April 2014 for cargo business service tax is required not the TIN
TIN for sales tax purpose
and

TAN for if you are paying exp. payment to any one beyond limit then you have to deducted TDS and for depositing TDS requirement of TAN
but you are doing business under prop. then if your sales /receipt over rs. 100 lacs then you have to deduct TDS in next year . not the same year in which your sales/receipt over Rs. 100 lacs
