13 December 2013 Sir/Mam,
Return for AY 2011-12 was filed by me on 05-01-2012 claiming a refund of Rs. 5000.But acknowledgement duly signed was not sent my to department till now.Please advice suitable course of action.

13 December 2013 If the ITR-V Acknowledgment doesn't submit to the CPC with in 120 days from the date of filing then such return is invalid and doesn't considered as return filed, However CPC has extended the due date to submit A.Y 2011-12 returns filed acknowledgment upto 31-10-2013 or 120 days which is later, so also loose this opportunity because of extended time also lapsed, and as well as due date u/s 139(4) for such assessment year also lapsed by 31-3-2013 to file return, so in your case it is not filed return of income and now you didn't have any chance to file return and claim tds except in the case of received 142(1) notice from the department if any. So at present you forget about your refund.

13 December 2013 your return shall be considered non-est. so your return won't be processed. However, you can apply for refund under 119(2). that is a complicated procedure though.
