22 August 2010 DEAR ALL,

WE HAVE HIRED A SUB-CONTRACTOR FOR TRANSPORT SERVICE.ALREADY WE HAD PAID HIM RS 18000 WITHOUT TDS DEDUCTION AND NEXT MONTH PAYMENT IS DUE RS 11000 SO PLEASE HELP ME HOW MUCH % TDS SHOULD I DEDUCT AND ON WHICH AMOUNT .

22 August 2010 If the transporter provided PAN- TDS rate is Nil

If not provided - TDS rate is 20 %

22 August 2010 TDS to be deducted on the amount being paid plus the amount already paid during the financial year, in this case Rs. 29000/-

Thanks for suggestion,further sub-contractor is giving us PAN as a Proprietor and bill for another company so is it ok or we should deduct tds 2%.

23 August 2010 1% in case of individual and HUF and 2 % in case of Domestic Co. or Firm

25 August 2010 Properitership can have the Owners PAN as business PAN number, so TDS will be 1% for Indiviual as suggested by Expert
