Tds Is Deducted on Total Bill Amount Including Service Tax .?
For Exa.
Bill Amount =20000
Service Tax= 2472
Total = 22472
i Want Know Tds Is Deducted on 20000 or 22472?

On 22472 if not on rent (194-I).

In my view TDS should be deducted on the 20,000/- only.
15 February 2009
If TDS is deducted on 20000/- it would result in short deduction of TDS on 2472 leading to non-compliance of Chapter XII.
