14 April 2016 Swachh Bharat Cess is to be paid only in cash (i.e. by challan / e-payment) and is not an input for CENVAT Credit. Hence SBC paid cannot be used to adjust SBC payable.

14 April 2016 Thank you for the reply. The ST amount payment was adjusted against available Cenvat credit, now since this credit adjustment is not possible for SBC, we need to pay in cash along with the interest......right

15 April 2016 Yes - before the Department issues a notice please pay up the SBC alongwith interest. In case a Demand notice is issued, the assessee is also liable for penalty as per rules.
