one-sixth of the period for which the article has actually served excluding from such period, the period for which he has been on
leave subject to a maximum of 180 days

Easy calculation is in following steps:
1. Calculate Total period served including leave
2. Deduct actual leave taken from 1 above
3. One sixth of figure arrived in 2 above will be the leave eligibility subject to maximum of 180 days.
