Refund of self assessment tax

13 April 2013 Sir ,I have made a payment for self assessment Tax Twice for one of our Client. Sice We are making payment online and the tax payer counterfoil receipt has not generated.so we make payment one more time. so how to claim refund. tell the procedure and if to write a letter to Department post a sample letter.

14 April 2013 You shall indicate both the payment details in schedule IT-self assessment tax schedule and claim refund for the excess payment. So of the banks provide to re-print or re-get the chalan so login into your account from which bank you paid tax and find to get the re-printing of chalan and then fill such details while filling of ITR.

In case if you not find to re-get the chalan then don't worry in form 26AS of such assessee the details of payment shall be available so with that help you can fill the ITR and claim excess paid amount as refund.

02 June 2013 Any excess payment shall be refunded after processing your return. The interest if any not included in self assessment shall also be adjusted and the 2nd self assessment may be reduced but you will get the refund.
