Payment of tds with under wrong section.

04 May 2012 At the time of making payment of TDS Online wrong Section 194C is selected, instead of section 194J and wrongly payment made with section 194C. Banker said that they can't make any change. please advice.

04 May 2012 For the new challans, change the banker. (Select the banker who understands the GRAVITY of TDS). For the older one, contact the TDS officer. They have been provided with the appropriate rights to amend. (This may take series of follow up with ITO)

04 May 2012 Write a letter to your TDS AO for correction in challan data along with the photocopy of the challan.

Sir,

This is to inform you that we had deducted TDS of Rs 1000/- (One Thousand Only) u/s 194J pertaining to the month of March’2010 but at the time of online payment of the said amount the section was wrongly selected as 194C instead of 194J.

We, therefore, request you to kindly make the necessary correction in your records. We are also enclosing a photocopy of the said challan.

We regret for our inadvertent mistake.
