Dear Professional colleague
PAN Number allotted to my client in 2001 already belongs to some other assessee whose PAN details are same and income tax site also shows no data about my client. My Client has been filing manual returns with the PAN Number till Current A.Y 2015-16 and now department has issued notice of incorrect PAN.
Please what should be done

Obtain fresh PAN No. and file returns based on new PAN once again.

should we write a letter to Assessing officer about this issue beside applying for a new PAN ?
