I sold a property on 24-Apr-2008 and I want to pay my Long Term Capital Gains Tax. Can I pay it online from
https://onlineservices.tin.nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp
In the Form CHALLAN NO./ITNS 280 What should I select (100)ADVANCE TAX OR (300)SELF ASSESSMENT TAX

Please advice and explain.

Could you also explain when we choose Advance Tax and when we choose Self Assessment Tax.

13 October 2008 During the year whatever amount you pay by way of tax will be trated as advance Tax. Self Assessment tax is paid after end of previous Year.

So I can pay the tax from https://onlineservices.tin.nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp

and at the time for filing my returns in july 09, I can quote the challan number.
