My friend has lost his one years return and he gone to IT Dept. with all his legal doc. and tell the trust how he lost it ? and there clerk said you have to pay 120 by challan and give it to me i will give you you return copy after that.
when he come to me and said pls pay my penalty online
but i don't know which category of this 120 tax or penalty and also in which challan I have to filled and what kind of tax it this self assesment tax or what ?
pls give me advice

It is fee for giving certified copy of return. Use chalan ITNS 280 and fill up the amount against column 'others'.
