Income tax return

This query is : Resolved

05 March 2014 Dear Sir
I am salaried employee in a private company, I also do a part time accounting job, which ITR form I have to use for filing return. My total income is below taxable limit. Also send me the procedure of filing E-Return. Thanks in advance for answering my queries.

Regards
Subhra Chatterjee

05 March 2014 1. Since you have income from business, you have to file ITR 4S

2. E-filing procedure:

(a) Go to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
(b) Register on the website
(c) Download ITR form
(d) Fill the ITR form and generate xml file
(e) Login to your account on the above website
(f) Upload xml file
(g) ITR V will be generated. Print the same, sign it & send to CPC, Bangalore

05 March 2014 Itr 4s not applicable as assesse comea under professional

05 March 2014 you can file ITR4S...as such you are not required to file the return.

05 March 2014 Dear Ganeshbabu, the assessee is doing PART TIME accounting. He is NOT a chartered accountant. Accordingly he is NOT a professional.

So ITR 4S will be filed.

06 March 2014 My view is assessee is salaried and not mentioned that based on what qualification he is earning part time income.

If he earns based on his/her professional qualification like CA/CMA/CS or any other, the income will be covered under Income from professional, hence ITR-4S not applicable, ITR-4 is mandatory

If he earns the part time income without any professional qualifications, it can be covered under Income from other sources and filling ITR-2 or ITR-4S is enough

06 March 2014 Mr.Ganeshbabu has forward the issue to me. Accordingly, it seems to me that Mr.Krishnan's view is better.
