if the tenants pay house tax on behalf of owner and later on deducts the amount of tax paid by him from the rent.
can the owner claim deduction for the tax paid by tenant on behalf of the owner.

Yes deduction will be available. Deduction of house tax is available if the same has been paid.

Sir but as per my knowledge deduction for house tax can be claimed only if it is paid by the owner so are you sure for what you are answering......... can you support your answer by reffering to the section of the ITA

Tax should be paid by the owner to claim the property tax. In your case, first, the amount is paid by tenant but later it was reimbursed by the owner then it means it is paid by him only.
Had the amount not been reimbursed by the owner, the deduction could not have available.
