Gst rate on cane jaggery

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
The GST rate on cane jaggery depends on its packaging. Unpacked jaggery is exempt from GST. However, all types of jaggery, whether pre-packaged and labelled, are subject to a 5% GST. The discussion clarifies that jaggery filled into used sugar bags, even if sourced from a 'kolhu' (traditional jaggery maker), will be treated as unpacked and thus exempt, according to Notification No. 12/2017 Central Tax (Rate).
