I am a accountant in govenment office . this quarter nil eTDS return submit by me on 18.8.2010 (1st quarter salary ) . Do The nil return submit are complusery ? 200.00 per day penalty are not allowed nil eTDS return .Please give me answer .

No filing Nil TDS return is not compulsory.
Only exception is 24Q last quarter. Even if no TDS deducted on salary you have to file Nl TDS return with salary structure for last quarter.
