Double filling of income tax return

I filled one return manually for A.Y. 11-12...But same has not been showing any record with I.T. dept....can I file return online for the same A.Y....is there any penalty for double filling of return....?

No need to file return again. You are having receipt copy of the same. You can hold it for record purpose.

No i dont have acknowledgment copy & also it there is no any record showing in I T dept. computer information system

Then file the return online. If the department has a record of the manual return then you will receive a letter from CPC stating that you have already filed a return.
