Change of name in pan card

27 October 2015 Dear Sir,

I applied a pan card of my wife (Suppose Name 'XYZ') on behalf of Joint Bank A/c with me. But her original name is "ABC", as per her certificates. Now i want to change the name in PAN card, as "ABC".

Is it possible or not? OR can i apply for new PAN with original name?

27 October 2015 you can apply for edit of pan card...!

27 October 2015 Could not get why XYZ was mentioned in place of ABC. Which documents were provided at the time of PAN application (for Proof of Address and Proof of Identity). Change of name is only possible through affidavit or if there was a mistake in spelling or Change in surname of wife. Please state the facts clearly to enable us to give proper solution.

28 October 2015 in mah view you can apply for the new one... but for that surrender the old one...!!

28 October 2015 You can apply for new PAN and Surrender old PAN but ensure there is no outstanding Tax dues or assessment pending against the earlier PAN.

29 October 2015 Then go ahead apply new PAN and surrender the earlier PAN.
