CA. Somshankar Patra

I am a CA working with a MNC (Fortune 500 company) as AM - Financial Planning and Analysis in Kolkata. I like the line and would like to further my career in it.

1. I would like to know what is a scope for a CA to advance in this line.

2.What short courses I can do for the time being, which will help me to move to a bigger company in place outside bengal, preferably couses from ICAI if they are good. ( I donot have the money right now for courses such as CFA and all)

3. Which course I should look forward to (i.e. save for) in future (Preferably after 1-2 years) to have an add-on course for this profile, as I would like to progress to Strategic Planning some day.

Esteemed members of CCI, please answer to each of my three questions.

Thanks!

Ed valuation on free samples

How will you value ED on free samples? For example, Product K, MRP is 30/-, Cost is 15/-, what is the ED payable if we issue free of 100 nos for business development or marketing executives?

How will you incorporate the same in Invoice?

Do we have to really pay ED for these kind of transaction?

I am working with a Private limited company for last one and half year. As per the terms of agreement I need to servce notice period of 90 days while I'm going to serve less than a month in actual.
Now I have to make payment for the shortfall of notice period. But the company is charging service tax @14% in addition which does not include the terms of appointment.
Is this allowable ??? If yes, under what ground ?? Any relevant section can you please mention.

Accounting treatment

Hi,

I want to know the accounting treatment for the following issue:

A manufacturer (company) has outsourced work to a job worker. The job worker has purchased a machinery and shown in the books as a fixed asset and claims depreciation. The manufacturer reimburses the cost of the machinery incurred by the job worker in Equal Monthly Installments. Further the manufacturer doesn't want this amount to be shown as a loan installment. Now should the EMIs be reducing the value of the fixed asset in the books of the job worker? But then at some point the value of the Fixed Asset will turn negative, since the asset is being depreciated. What should be the Accounting treatment for this?

Thanks
