Excise on profit

Friends,

Excise duty is charged on Which Amount?

I mean Excise duty is charged after adding profit.Do we have to charged excise on profit.

Suppose i bring a product X at 5000 rs and then sell it at 6000 rs without doing anything (for a profit of 1000 rs,due to difference in market price), in this case do i have to pay excise duty.If yes then how much? whether on 6000 or on 5000 rs.

or simply forward the excise burden to the buyer for the amount that i have paid while purchasing this product.

One of my friends is doing business in computer system, he has same query.Currently what he is doing is that he added word "system" to the purchased product and then charge excise duty.

so finally;

1)do excise is charged on the profit?
2)on which amount the duty will be charged if i purchase the product at 5000 and sold it at 6000 with profit of 1000 without doing anything.
3)what about the excise duty in above case if i donot amount to manufacturer?

How to satisfy assessing officer

pls help to solve my case..as per ccr 2004 exporters are allowed refund of cenvat credit when goods cleared under bond or letter of undertaking..but for that seperate accounts have to be maintained for segregation of raw material on which cenvat is admissible and material on which cenvat is not admissible..which was not being done in my case due to practical difficulty..being both raw materials i.e. on which cenvat avilable and not available were on same floor.i.e. export was being done from raw material on which we were not taking cenvat.now as per provisions nad rules of ccr i have to pay higher duty@6%..to save this any tax planning possible or how to satisfy assessing officer of this practical difficulty faced by us to save duty..

Cenvat credit

An SSI Unit claiming duty exemption within the limit of 1.5 crores issued a cenvatable invoice without duty. Subsequently they have crossed the exemption limit and then start billing invoice with payment of duty.

Can they issue supplementary invoice for price revision with duty now, for invoices pertains to the period when they are in SSI exemption limit.

Illustriatively, on 10.10.2012, they are crossed exemption limit, upto 10.10.2012 they are not paying excise duty from 11.10.2012, they started paying excise duty. For invoices raised on 05.10.2012,(without duty) whether supplementary invoice for price revision can be raised on 15.10.12 with duty
