30 December 2008 if bank charge R.100 from a current account towards cost of cheque book which was issued without intimation or prior approval to account holder by the banker .Can bank legally charge the same . Plz suggest with some study cases.

then better contact the bank for knowing list charges they collect and in what basis they do....

30 December 2008 All bank charges for chq books issued by them. I dont think that the bank has charged so much that you have to take legal action and even the all the bank charged same amount.

30 December 2008 And bank has issued chq books without your application then you can return the chq book to bank and ask for reversing the charges.

30 December 2008 These are the agreed service charges. In case you do not require the same the same may be returned to the bank. I think bank will also reverse the charges. Otherwise you may lodge a complaint with the bank. In case bank does not care for the complaint then you may file a complaint with Banking Ombudsman.
