Audit report with wrong figures

06 October 2013 although every auditor tries to give a perfect audit report without any errors or mistakes, but many uncontrolable situations, sometimes wrong figures get printed in the audit report..for example, there can be error of commission i.e. 852345 can get mistypes as 825345...or while filing audit report, under pressure of time, some 80 c deductions got over looked..etc etc....i m sure many of ca's have faced such problems smetime....i just wanted to know what one should do if such mistakes occur,without any wrong intentions....is there ny remedy available, like filing of revised audit report etc..

06 October 2013 Tax Audit report can not be revised in normal course,
However, in case of accounts are revised in the following circumstances, the audit report efilled can also be revised:

1. Revision of Accounts after adoption in AGM.

2. Change in law with retrospective Effect.

3.Change in interpretation of Law {CBDT notification or Circulars}

In case tax audit report efilled revised, the Auditor shall state that it's a revised report and also state the reason behind...

06 October 2013 my exact query was not about revised report actually..i asked about the consequences and solutions, if such things happen..but i appriciate ur answers...thax aryan

07 October 2013 Aryan Bhai has already covered the issue. there are no consequences. You are within your rights to revise the report. That shall settle the matter for good.

07 October 2013 nikhil sir....i agree with u about aryan bhai...but my problem remains unresolved...
what do u mean by "there are no consequences"...the assessee may get scrutiny order..and audit report can be revised under the above mentioned 3 situations only....but making unintentional mistake does not fall within any of these...the what one shud do?

07 October 2013 i) Department will complete assessment on the basis of data uploaded. Course of action is to file revision petition before the CIT.

ii) Disciplinary action, if taken against the auditor, can be defended with the help of an affidavit.
