The valuation perquisite in the form of rent free or concessional accomodation is based on a percentage (15/10/7.5) of salary of the employee who has been provided the said perquisite. Accomodation includes house, flat,etc and 'part thereof.' My question is- if 2 employees sharing a flat owned by the employer has salary (for valuation purpose) of Rs. 50,000 p.m. and 15,000 p.m., then both of them would have completely uncomparable amount of perquisite while enjoying the same facilities. Is the mode of such valuation justified?
