When is assessment of tax deemed complete?

04 September 2009 If I get a notice today to appear before the Asst Commissioner wherein some queries regarding my tax returns for Assessment Year 2008-09 (FY 2007-08) are sought, is my assessment deemed to be complete today or will it be complete once the Assessing Officer sees me and seeks clarifications and then decides either way?

05 September 2009 It will be completed when you will be told
so by the Assessing Officer after going through the details & clarifications submitted by you.
He may tell you to submit further information/details etc. also.
After completion of hearing AO will pass an order.
In his order he may add certain items in your income and recalculates tax.Demand Note/or adjusted refund will be received by you, if there be any.

After paying the demand, it gets completed.
