23 January 2014 i have originally filed tds return for q1 in time...
but still income tax department sent intimation showing that one Challan is unconsumed for the month of june 2013 paid in 5th july
can u tell me about difference between consumed challan and unconsumed challan..?

23 January 2014 it means that you have deposited a challan for Q1 but have either not included in the TDS return or if it has been included it has not be completely knocked off against deductees.

For eg. lets say the challan amount is Rs 100 but deductee against it in the deductee sheet is Rs 50 only. so the remaining part is unconsumed..

what is that?

23 January 2014 well TDS notices/intimation are issued under 200A similar to income tax intimation issued under 143(1).
