20 December 2013 hey,
if a school has made an advance payment of Rs 400000 to Great India Nautanki Co. Pvt Ltd for students to see kingdom of dream show and school made the balance amount of Rs 175000 after the show, so will tds be deducted while making these payment?
If yes, under which section and why?
If no, why?
Please suggest

20 December 2013 In my view Sec. 194c is applicable, coz your example falls under definition of "work", which includes broadcasting and telecasting including production of programmes.

It doesn,t fall under the definition of work because it neither involves broadcasting or telecasting.
here, the students are just going to watch the show just like seeing a movie..

21 December 2013 its just an entry fees to the show, right? If it is so, then don't deduct any TDS. It is merely advance payment for tickets as we do in any other case.
