17 June 2014 whether the tds is direct tax or indirect tax?
according to direct tax a tax which is impose on person and tax burden is same on that person on which it is imposed is known as direct tax?
according to idt the burden of tax is on another person and impose on some other person is called idt.
i know tds is direct tax i want to know why it is direct tax because it is paid by empolyer(impose) and burden on empolyee
my point of view is must be indirect tax please clarify me ???????

18 June 2014 you are confusing yourself.

TDS is not paid by employer (he doesn't bear the burden of it)..tds is only deducted by employer...thats the difference...

18 June 2014 in sale tax tax impose on seller but burden of tax is on buyer in the same way tds is impose on emloyer and but its burden on employee
this is the contradict the defination of idt?

18 June 2014 it is the responsibilty of employer to deduct tax otherwise he is liable for interest and penality

18 June 2014 burden of interest is for delay in deduction. but where is the burden of tax? is it in addition to the salary being paid?

burden of tax is not on employer it is only on employee
but it is imposed/levied on employer

same as in sale tax impose on seller but burden on buyer

and seller take honestly rate of taxes charged as mention in law.
