12 March 2026 Sir,

One person one pancard missed by mistakely another pancard applied, he got new number now he is having two pancards one is linked with aadharcard and other card previously filed incometax returns and in banks

How to previous card cancel , He wants to continue aadharlink pancard and same to be mentioned in Bank account

What is procedure to cancel one pancard not using

12 March 2026 Procedure to Cancel the Duplicate PAN
You can surrender the extra PAN card through either online or offline methods.
Online Method (via NSDL/Protean):
Visit the Protean (formerly NSDL) PAN portal.
Select "Changes or Correction in existing PAN Data/Reprint of PAN Card" as the application type.
Fill in your personal details and enter the PAN number you want to retain at the top of the form.
In Item No. 11, mention the second PAN number you wish to surrender.
Submit the form, pay the required fee, and save the acknowledgement slip.

Download and fill out the "Request for New PAN Card or Changes or Correction in PAN Data" form.
Clearly mention the PAN to be cancelled in Item 11.
Submit this form at the nearest PAN Service Centre or TIN-Facilitation Centre.

12 March 2026 Write a formal letter to your local Income Tax Assessing Officer (AO) explaining that the second PAN was obtained by mistake and request its cancellation. Provide details of both PANs and attach a copy of the card being surrendered.
Always keep the stamped acknowledgement from the IT department as legal proof that you voluntarily surrendered the extra card.
