i am ipcc student.what is the cretria needed to file return of income for an individual.and how is return of income different from normal tax.i do not hav good clarity in this topic.thanks in advn.

Any individual having total income above maximum exemption limit will have to file return of income. For other individuals it is optional.

Exemption limit means limit fixed by CBDT.....like 180000 or 190000 etc.
If any individual's income is above these limits then firstly he will have to pay tax and then file a return of income.
