Tan for deduct tds

This query is : Resolved

19 June 2013 I want to know that I dont have TAN no but i am paying rent Rs 45000 Pm.

Is it compulsory to deduct TDS on rent and M I deduct TDS without TAN no.?

Plz rply...

19 June 2013 1)you are paying rent of Rs.45000 pm

2)so you need to deduct TDS @ 10% under section 194I as it will exceeds threshold limit of rs.180000

3)it is compulsory to deduct tds other wise expense will be disallowed.

4)so please obtain TAN number immedieatly and deduct TDS in subsequent payments ,..and the same has to be paid to government in challan 281

5)ask PAN no. of payee..if he dont have pan tds @20% is deductable

Thanks& regards
